Shore Medical Center (SMC), is a full-service acute care community hospital located in Somers Point, New Jersey. They provide health services for Cancer, Spine & Orthopedic, Emergency, Maternity, Pediatrics and Neurology.
SMC opened a +/- 6,800 SF Pediatric Hybrid Unit, the first-of-its-kind in the State of New Jersey. Our scope was all-inclusive of Architectural, Interior Design, and Engineering services for the Planning, Programming, Regulatory Approval Assistance (NJDOH and NJDCA Healthcare Plan Review), Design, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration Services.
The process of developing a space plan was exciting because for the first time a Pediatric Emergency Department unit was merged with a Pediatric In-Patient unit within the same space.
The unit’s program consisted of a Pediatric Emergency Department with Five (5) Patient Bays and Pediatric In-Patient area with up to Seven (7) Patient Beds in Five (5)Patient Rooms. Private and Semi – Private room configurations were accomplished within the same footprint. A large full function multi-display video wall was fitted in the playroom with a state-of-the-art sound system.
