St. Charles Rehabilitation Hospital is a ground up +/- 37,000 SF medical rehabilitation hospital in Louisiana that focuses on treating people recovering from debilitating injuries, illnesses, surgeries, and chronic medical conditions. The project required a pile foundation design to accommodate the 2-story facilities program of spaces.
The design was inspired by a traditional style of architecture utilizing masonry construction, weather resistant cement fiber exterior siding, and traditional architectural accents. The exterior of the building is complimented by an updated transitional interior to create a ‘home-like’ feel and look. The emphasis of the design was on patient convenience and are to encourage effective and speedy rehabilitation post-surgery.
The facility features private and semi-private patient rooms; community spaces are provided to encourage patient socialization and the interior and exterior areas further reinforce the home-like experience for patients, staff, and visitors. The facility also includes complete food service facilities as well as administrative offices, counseling offices, and ambulatory physician office spaces.
